IAPA condemns arrest of Cuba bloggers and calls for release of jailed independent journalists Miami (September 23, 2009).The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) today condemned the arrest of two bloggers in Cuba, the ongoing restrictions on freedom of the press there and renewed its demand for the release of independent journalists in prison.
IAPA fears that Cuba is creating conditions for another Black Spring "The government of Cuba represses, censors, imprisons and drowns the voice of its citizens in the face of a silenced international community that seems to have become accustomed to the atrocities and human rights violations on the island," Jorge Canahuati.
